KarmaYoga Digital Citizen is designed as a free community
programme for people of different ages, occupations and educational backgrounds.
Through practical learning, digital-safety awareness and community
participation, it aims to help citizens use everyday digital services, protect
their money and personal information, and participate more confidently in modern
life. The proposed programme is funded through charitable support, not
participant fees.

A simple idea with an important purpose

A smartphone can connect a person to banking, payments, education, government
services, healthcare, travel, communication and business. But access to a device
does not automatically mean that someone knows how to use it safely.

Digital Literacy Foundation

The Digital Literacy Foundation is a proposed
continuing-education programme and a common learning component of the KarmaYoga
vocational pathway. Its detailed curriculum, delivery arrangements, assessment
requirements and funding model must be established before implementation.

Building confidence and capability in the digital world

Digital services now influence how people communicate, learn, manage money,
access public services and participate in work. Having a smartphone or an
internet connection does not necessarily mean that a person can use digital
tools confidently, productively or safely.

Vocational Skills Development

The vocational-skills programme is a proposed framework for
developing practical occupational capabilities and expanding livelihood
opportunities. Each trade requires a defined curriculum, suitable trainers and
facilities, practical assessment, and a realistic route to applying the skills.

Skills that lead to useful work

Vocational education should help people develop capabilities they can
demonstrate and apply in real situations. A learner should understand not only a
subject or technique, but also how to perform defined tasks safely, meet quality
requirements and take responsibility for the work.

Community Training Labs

Community Training Labs are a proposed programme for making
practical learning facilities accessible to local communities. Each lab’s
design, equipment, staffing, course portfolio, operating arrangements and
funding requirements will depend on its intended use and local needs.

Turning learning spaces into community capability

Access to training depends on more than a curriculum. Learners also need places
where they can practise, use suitable equipment, receive guidance and
demonstrate what they have learned.

School Learning Programme

The School Learning Programme aims to connect school education with practical
capabilities that remain useful beyond the classroom. It uses a shared
competency framework across school and vocational training, allowing students to
build skills gradually, demonstrate what they can do, and continue from their
verified level of achievement rather than starting again.

Why school learning needs a connected pathway

School education should prepare students not only to complete academic
requirements, but also to understand problems, apply knowledge and develop
useful capabilities. Practical learning can give students additional options if
they leave formal education before completing Class XII, while also helping
those who continue their studies.

Care and Community Support Programme

The Care and Community Support Programme aims to strengthen the support
available to people who need care, families who provide it and communities
facing barriers to appropriate services. Potential activities include caregiver
preparation, community support, assistance navigating services and collaboration
with qualified care providers. Each intervention requires a defined scope,
suitable partners, safeguards and an agreed funding and delivery plan.

Why care and community support matter

Care is a continuing responsibility for individuals, families and communities.
Older adults, people who need assistance with daily living, patients recovering
from illness and people facing social or practical difficulties may require
support beyond a single visit to a healthcare facility.

Livelihood Development Programme

The Livelihood Development Programme aims to connect education and vocational
training with meaningful economic activity. It combines competency-based
learning, an understanding of local demand, preparation for work, and pathways
towards independent work and enterprise. The objective is not simply to train
people, but to help them develop capabilities that can be applied to real needs,
while recognising that employment, assignments and income depend on
opportunities and individual circumstances.

From skills to sustainable livelihoods

Training can help a person develop a capability, but capability alone does not
guarantee a livelihood. A trained person also needs a way to find work,
understand customer requirements, deliver an acceptable result and receive fair
payment.
